PORTAGE, Maine — A 20-year-old Ashland man was summoned for providing a place for minors to consume alcohol after a fight at a party drew attention to the gathering.
State police Sgt. Brian Harris said late Monday evening that the incident happened at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to Harris, police went to a camp on Portage Lake after a large party was reported. Harris and Troopers Dennis Quint and Todd Stetson went to the scene and found that what originally had started out as a small party had grown larger than expected during the evening.
Harris said that a fight broke out after a disagreement between some of the revelers resulting in the assault on a male at the party.
Police also discovered that several minors who had been drinking were in attendance at the party.
Marcus Belanger, 20, of Ashland was summoned for providing a place for minors to consume alcohol.
No charges were filed in the assault as the involved participants had worked out their differences and did not want to cooperate in the investigation, according to Harris.
Troopers were assisted by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, the Ashland Police Department and the U.S. Border Patrol.
