BDN, what is the status of the police investigation?

    • Anonymous

I hope everything works out OK. With no Protection Order in effect he can keep his guns. From what was described, him following her around, blocking her car in, sending her stuff she didn’t want, took photos and video of her sleeping and that the former Marine threatened to “use his military tactics” on her to get her to drop her complaints against him..  Not you normal activity. Time will tell if she made the right decision.

It’s been reported that Cornell du Houx doesn’t own any guns. I’m not defending him; none of us knows who’s telling the truth. What you say was “described” was actually only alleged by Herbig and to date has not resulted in any charges by police.  This article makes no reference to the police investigation. The reporter should have at least noted that Herbig’s claims are or were under investigation and checked on the status of the probe.

The Portland Press Herald has answered this question. State police concluded their investigation last week. Cornell du Houx will not be charged with anything. The chief of Capitol Police says Herbig never filed a complaint and did not seek a protection order until last week. He also says he believes a prosecutor was brought in to review the case. So how about it, BDN? Seems like there are some pretty big questions here for Rep. Herbig. Will you ask them?

As the article above states, ” According to Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland, police on
Friday ended their investigation of Cornell du Houx. No charges were
      filed against him.
“‘Nor will they be,'” McCausland said.”

    got to love the Dems.

Please don’t force me to talk about Newt Gingrich, his “throwaway” wives and various mistresses du jour.  Please!  I don’t think I could bear to rehash that mess again. But, if you insist on making this about dems vs repubes, I will do it!     :)

Go ahead and tell us about Newt. I must have missed the news reports where Newt  blocked his ex-wives cars , followed them around, had packages delivered to them.  Was Newt in the habit of taking photos and videos of his ex-wives sleeping while  threatening to “use military tactics” on his EX’s.

  • Both should resign and let grown-ups take their places.

She should resign because she’s at fault, I guess, huh?

I think I get where you’re coming from.

GREAT. While these two are playing footies under the table we have real problems that need fixing. Now we have a representative of our state who is a alleged stalker. LETS HOLD BOTH OF THESE “ADULTS” ACCOUNTABLE AT RE-ELECTION TIME. They obviosly dont know how to conduct themselves in a professional manner. I try not to judge the victim but she should have her eyes on the real problems of maine not on a co worker.

It’s funny how they treat these lawmakers, cause when this happens to real people and the state gets a hold of it, it has to go through the whole legal process including counseling.

Hope she’s happy now that she’s ruined his reputation.  Too many PFA orders are gotten for revenge.

I am surprised the biased BDN didn’t mention they were democrats in the headline? NOT!

Maybe she settled because she didn’t want any more light shed on the fact that she had an affair with Alex while still married to her devoted husband?

How can we believe anything that comes out of legislators as politicians?

The system is so corrupt that anything they say or do is suspect as a political action.

How can we believe that this is not a ruse or a hoax?

I have compassion for people under duress but how do we know this is the case?
