Black bear sightings on rise in NH

The Associated Press

BEDFORD, N.H. — A number of New Hampshire residents have reported black bear sightings.

The State Fish and Game Department says the bears came out early because of the mild winter. There may be as many as 5,000 black bears statewide.

WMUR-TV reports state officials are recommending that people bring their birdfeeders and trash cans inside. The bears are hungry and in search of food.
