Bangor Christian School announces honor parts

Samantha Martin, daughter of Glenn and Kristin Martin of Hampden, has been named valedictorian of her class. She plans to attend Taylor University in Indiana where she intends to pursue a pre-med major.

Martin participated in school government as a student council member and as a National Honor Society member. She received the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Achievement Award, Wendy’s High School Heisman Award, ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student Award for Academics and Penobscot Valley Conference Scholar All-Academic Award. Throughout her high school years, she has been involved in soccer, basketball, track and, in her senior year, softball.

She received the Penobscot Valley Conference Scholar Athlete Award her senior year and scholar athlete awards each season of high school. Her sophomore and freshman years she participated in the Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra playing violin.

Abigail Vicnaire, daughter of Scott and Michelle Vicnaire of Dedham, has been named salutatorian of her class. She is enrolled in the nursing program at the University of Maine in Orono beginning this fall.

Vicnaire has been a leader in her school, acting as a student council member the last four years, serving as president her senior year. For the last five years she has volunteered in the 4-year-old kindergarten as an elementary aid and has coached the kindergarten Pee Wee soccer teams. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years, serving as secretary her senior year.

Over the course of her high school career, Abigail has been involved in varsity soccer and softball four years and drama three years. She volunteers in the nursery at Bangor Baptist Church. Abigail has played piano for 13 years and plays keyboard for the Bangor Baptist Thrive Youth Ministries band.
