Narraguagus honor parts announced

HARRINGTON, Maine — Principal John Sawyer has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2012 at Narraguagus High School. Graduation exercises will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, in the Charles F. Lawrence gymnasium.

Rachel Eaton, daughter of Royce and Joanna Eaton of Cherryfield, has been named valedictorian for her class and plans to study chemical engineering in the fall.

Eaton is a student mentor and a member of the National Honor Society, math team, varsity club and drama club. Among the many awards and honors that she has received are the Golden Apple Award, Maine Principal’s Award, Phi Beta Kappa Academic Achievement Award and numerous individual class awards. She has completed service activities throughout the community.

Whitney Sargent, daughter of Stanley “Cappy” and Tina Sargent of Milbridge, has been named salutatorian for her class and plans to study pharmacy in the fall.

Sargent is secretary of the National Honor Society and a USCG-certified fishing vessel drill conductor. She has been a student mentor and attended the Husson Pharmacy Summer Camp. She has received the Golden Apple Award as well as numerous individual class awards. Sargent is an avid horse rider and was Eastern Maine Dressage Champion as well as Junior/Young Rider Champion.
