ELLSWORTH, Maine — Police in Hancock County are asking for the public’s help identifying a young man considered a “person of interest” in a string of motor vehicle burglaries in Dedham over the weekend.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Bangor Police Department released four surveillance camera photos taken Sunday morning at a Bangor convenience store that show a young man in a hooded shirt as well as one of a vehicle.

A total of nine motor vehicle burglaries were reported in Dedham between Saturday night and Monday, with the majority apparently occurring between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Police said prescription medications, a digital camera, an iPod, a credit card and other items were stolen from the vehicles.

Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy Christopher Thornton with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office at 667-7575 or 460-2413. Callers may remain anonymous, if desired. Anonymous tips can also be left on the Bangor Police Department’s Tip Line at 947-7382, ext. 6.
