Principal Paul L. Theriault of Shead High School has announced the honor parts for the class of 2012.
Valedictorian is Shelby Seavey, daughter of Shelley and Allan Seavey of Edmunds. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Machias with an undecided four-year major.
Seavey has participated in National Honor Society and Jobs for Maine Graduates, has been a manager of the softball team and played basketball and soccer. Her community service activities include the NHS annual Red Cross blood drive, the WQDY Turkey-a-thon and the Dennys River Volunteer Fire Department.
Salutatorian is Randi DeWitt, daughter of Carmela and Ralph DeWitt of Eastport. She plans to attend Husson College in Bangor for a year and then pursue an associate degree in radiology at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield.
DeWitt is a member of the band and the basketball, softball and cross-country teams. She has participated in community service and the JMG program and serves as the Shead reporter for The Quoddy Tides.
First honor part recipient is Jennifer Marie Cushing, daughter of Joan and John Cushing of Pembroke. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Machias with a major in elementary education.
Cushing has been active in drama, NHS and the National Technical Honor Society and was a silver medalist in the Maine division of the SkillsUSA competition. A three-sport athlete, she has captained the soccer, basketball and softball teams. Her community service activities include the NHS annual Red Cross blood drive, the WQDY Turkey-a-thon and an internship at Pembroke Elementary School.
Second honor part recipient is Morgan Ann Verge, daughter of Vicki and John Verge of Pembroke. She plans to attend the four-year nursing program at Husson University in Bangor.
Senior editor of the Shead yearbook, she is also a member of the NHS and the golf, soccer and softball teams. Morgan has participated in the WQDY Turkey-a-thon and the Secret Santa program.
Third honor part recipient is Vanessa Patterson, daughter of Jennifer and Robert Patterson of Perry. She plans to pursue a four-year degree in business management at the University of Maine at Machias.
Patterson has participated in JMG, NHS and the National Technical Honor Society and was named Student of the Year at St. Croix Regional Technical Center. She is a four-year member of the soccer, basketball and softball teams. Her community service activities include the annual NHS Red Cross blood drive, the WQDY Turkey-a-thon, Secret Santa and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
Fourth honor part recipient is Thomas Stanhope, son of Nancy James of Princeton and John Stanhope of Perry. He plans to attend Maine Maritime Academy in Castine with a major in marine engineering and operations.
He has been a member of the student senate and is a five-sport athlete, participating in soccer, golf, basketball, tennis and baseball.
