It’s raining kittens: Bangor Humane Society to host annual Kitten Shower

BANGOR — The Bangor Humane Society is expecting. Each year the animal shelter takes in hundreds of kittens that require new foster homes, supplies and heightened community awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering.

The shelter will host a Kitten Shower 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at the shelter. People are urged to bring a gift or two. Items on the wish list are kitten milk replacement, scoopable kitty litter, baby wipes, toys such as plastic balls, furry mice, feather teasers, catnip, canned kitten food, bath towels and paper towels.

As kittens continue to arrive at the shelter during spring and summer, the shelter needs foster homes. Kittens must be 8 weeks old before being vaccinated and spayed or neutered to be placed for adoption, and foster homes allow kittens to receive the care they need until they are old enough to be adopted.

Donations of gift cards are appreciated. For easy shopping, shelter wish list items are available at Petco and PetQuarters.
