PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Police are investigating the death of a Portsmouth, N.H., woman whose body was found floating in the Piscataqua River.

Authorities say 57-year-old Debra Dockham was found Thursday evening south of the Memorial Bridge, near the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Police say contrary to initial reports, she was not wearing a wetsuit and was fully clothed.

Crews performed CPR but she was unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Portsmouth Police say Dockham was a regular presence downtown and are asking anyone who may have known where she was on Thursday to contact Det. Scott Study, the lead investigator in the case.

The cause and manner of death have not been released. Police say there is no immediate cause for public safety concerns.
