BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Police Department detectives and a representative from the state medical examiner’s office are investigating the death of a baby boy Tuesday morning.
Emergency medical personnel and police were called to 92 Allen St. at about 9:30 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive male infant, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday afternoon in a news release.
The child was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Edwards said.
Edwards said Bangor police and the medical examiner’s office are working to determine the cause and manner of the infant’s death. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday, he said.
The infant’s death Tuesday at 92 Allen St. is the second death of a child at that address in less than four months.
Bangor police investigated the death of a child under the age of 3 at that location on Dec. 30.
Edwards said Tuesday that the two deaths are not believed to be connected “at this time.”
Bangor police are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests being conducted on the child who died in December, Edwards said in a recent interview.
The house at 92 Allen St. appears to comprise two apartments. It was not immediately clear Tuesday if the two children who died had the same parents.
