Dancing with Local Stars event to light up Camden stage

CAMDEN, Maine — Eight local midcoast celebrities will take the stage to show off their best dance moves at 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Camden Opera House. The event will support The Community Schools at Opportunity Farm.

The star lineup will include author and Maine Warden Service Chaplain Kate Braestrup, Down East chairman Allen Fernald, SOMA Pilates instructor Marianne Forti, Camden Police Officer Brook Hartshorn, 40 Paper owner and executive chef Josh Hixson, Rockland Fire Chief Charlie Jordan, Camden EMS Chief Julia Libby and the Maine State Library’s Jamie Ritter.

The contestants have been rehearsing dance numbers with the professional dance instructors of Swing and Sway Dancing and Kinetic Energy Alive.

The stars and their instructors will be joined by five local dance troupes who will perform tap, hip-hop, ballet, Zumba, belly dance and more.

Dancing with Local Stars is sponsored by Camden Real Estate Company, Duffy Anderson, Investment Management and Consulting Group, Echo Farms Properties, Maine Magazine, Richard and Barbara Russo and Richard and Mary Jane Schotte.
