Applications sought for Habitat for Humanity house in Hampden

HAMPDEN, Maine — Families that want to apply to build, live in and own a home in Hampden that Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor is planning to build have until 5 p.m. Friday to submit their applications.

This will be the 15th house built by the Greater Bangor organization in its 24-year history and the first outside Bangor and Brewer.

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing ministry which has built 500,000 houses worldwide for lower-income families. Habitat for Humanity welcomes all people to build and repair simple, decent, affordable houses with those who lack adequate shelter. Homeowners are required to pay no-profit mortgages arranged through Habitat for Humanity.

Applications are available at the front desk of ReStore in Penobscot Plaza, 83 Washington St., Bangor. ReStore is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
