Outlook: The Black Bears hope to extend their 10-game winning streak as they take on the Hawks. UMaine plays the first of only three conference home series this season. The Bears are coming off Tuesday’s 5-1 victory over Division III Colby College of Waterville. Hartford, under new coach Justin Blood, has dropped five of its last six coming off Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to Iona. UMaine looks to continue its offensive production after sweeping Maryland Baltimore County last weekend behind 76 hits and 76 runs. UMaine has boosted its team batting average to .293. Hartford is batting .263 and averages 4.4 runs per contest. The Hawks are 7-5 when allowing five or fewer runs, but 1-17 if giving up six or more. Walks and hit batters have plagued the pitching staff.
