  1. Keep it civil and stay on topic
  2. No vulgarity, racial slurs, name-calling or personal attacks.
  3. People who harass others or joke about tragedies will be blocked.
The primary rule here is pretty simple: Treat others with the same respect you'd want for yourself. Here are some guidelines (see more):

Politic as usual. Lies and half-truths. Both sides, but the republicans seem to be winning the battle of making stuff up.

Looks like, once again, that the Rs practice voodoo economics (very slectgive onone side of the ledger).  And this makes us want to vote for them?  Not.

Could you prove which aspects are lies and half-truths?

More Obama propaganda brought to you by the BDN…….More to follow.

    • Anonymous

Just more propaganda by the Rs, neatly countered by a fair source.

One liberal paper, quoting another liberal paper(washingtonpost) so that makes it true.

Try explaining this then, why did my wife, get less then half back in taxes then she made last year, and is in the 30-40k tax bracket, that called the proof is in the pudding.

You can’t go by what you get back. You need to find the amounts paid each year. I went from owing a lot to getting a small amount back. Obama saved my butt? No, I paid quarterly estimated taxes and overguessed how much I would earn. What you get back is your own money that you overpaid. Keep it and get the interest yourself.

So Faux News and R campaign speeches make something true?  Not.
Apples and Oranges oncamparing tax returns year to year unless all parameterson your part are exactly equal (not likely).  Anyway, ancedotal, one return out of millions.

I don’t doubt the Republicans will be playing fast and loose with the truth as the election progresses – as will the Democrats, if history is any indicator. The question is, will the BDN be giving equal prominence to the sins of both sides, or will it cover for the Democrats by silence? I’m fairly sure that, even now, there are Wall Street Journal critiques of Democratic election-year claims which the BDN could reprint….

It’s pretty rare if ever that WSJ material gets released elsewhere (unlike AP).  Sounds like you’ll have to read the WSJ in addition (probably should anyway).  Much of the content is available online for free.  Fact checker seems to be quite fair indeed, covering both kudos and warts for both sides.

The Flexible Spending account which allowed $5000 of income pre tax to pay for expenses is now down to $2500. This is part of the healthcare overhaul directly related to Obama and taxes.

Obama’s tax proposals would raise taxes on people like himself. Romney’s tax proposals would nearly half the taxation rate for people like himself.

Look clearly at the 2014 rate compared to the 2013 rate. For those of you who are on Medicare, read the following. It’s short, but important and you probably haven’t heard about it in the Mainstream News: The per person Medicare Insurance Premium will increase from the present Monthly Fee of $96.40, rising to $104.20 in 2012, $120.20 in 2013, and$247.00 in 2014. These are Provisions incorporated in the Obamacare Legislation, purposely delayed so as not to confuse the 2012 Re-Election Campaigns. This is the hope & change that Obama promised when he was first elected. It looks more like a war on Seniors. Pass this info on to all Seniors that you know, so they will know who’s throwing them under the bus. Good luck to future seniors.

Unless your head is buried in the sand, you know who will throw the majority of seniors under the bus with privatizing medicare! or maybe you are not old enough?

the cost of medicare is a budget buster, and the increased premiums are a temporary “fix”, but if you are old and poor, you better not vote for the Republicans because they don’t think you’re worth insuring at all.
