GORHAM, Maine — Officials from the state fire marshal’s office, along with Gorham police officers and firefighters, will start canvassing Gorham neighborhoods to help with their investigation of suspicious fires in the area, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

The latest arson fire in town, the fifth in the last 15 days, occurred late Wednesday night at a home under construction.

McCausland said in a news release the canvassing will include a handout for residents, which will include what numbers to call to report any suspicious activity.

Participants will meet behind the Gorham police and fire station at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, McCausland said.
