BANGOR, Maine — Charges against an Old Town man arrested early Friday morning in connection with an alleged domestic violence assault have been dropped.

Corey Carr, 35, had been charged with domestic violence assault and obstructing a report of a crime after he reportedly left an Old Town bar with a woman and then became involved in an altercation.

Old Town police said Friday that Carr pushed the woman to the ground and took a cell phone away from her when she tried to call police.

The Penobscot County district attorney’s office declined to prosecute the case, a spokeswoman for the office confirmed Tuesday.
