Outlook: The Black Bears open conference play back on the road. UMaine begins defense of its AE championship against UMBC, perennially one of the league’s worst teams. The Retrievers are coached by former assistant Bob Mumma. The Bears are riding a five-game winning streak coming off Wednesday’s 7-2 victory over Husson. UMaine’s pitching appears to be settling in as Voisine takes the fourth starting spot and Mike Connolly remains in the bullpen. UMBC has lost five in a row and six of its last seven, but owns a win over Tulane.
