Firefighters extinguish brush fire in Berwick

By Amanda Beland, Foster's Daily Democrat

BERWICK, Maine — A two-acre brush fire was quickly brought under control by emergency officials in Berwick on Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters from Berwick and Lebanon responded to 185 Long Swamp Road for a report of a brush fire at 12:29 p.m., according to Berwick Fire Chief Dennis Plante. Once on scene, crews were able to bring the flames under control within 15 minutes. However, because the fire had burnt the ground, clean up of the site took well over an hour, with crews on scene for a total of one and a half to two hours, Plante estimated.

The cause of the fire is unknown. No one was injured in the blaze.
