Searsmont man arrested after allegedly assaulting estranged wife

BELFAST, Maine — A Searsmont man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly assaulting his estranged spouse, another man and trashing a residence on Poors Mills Road in Belfast.

Scott Hall, 24, went to the home where his estranged wife resides at about 7 p.m. and allegedly kicked in the front door in to gain access, according to a report from the Belfast Police Department.

Once inside, Hall reportedly assaulted a man who was helping at the residence, according to police, then allegedly assaulted his estranged wife. She told police he hit her in the chest and knocked her onto a bed, allegedly hitting one of the children while in the process of assaulting the woman.

He also reportedly “trashed” the trailer, according to the police report.

Hall was charged with assault, domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal mischief. He was taken to Waldo County Jail and remained in police custody Thursday. He is being held on $1,000 cash bail, according to a jail official.
