KITTERY, Maine — A Traip Academy student is facing charges after police say the teenager brought a gun to the institution last week.

Kittery police Chief Paul Callaghan said in a news release that authorities were tipped off when another child’s parent called the school to report the incident.

Callaghan said the boy brought the gun to school March 27 and showed it to a few fellow students. Nobody was injured or threatened, the chief added.

The boy’s name was not released because he is under 18. Callaghan declined to divulge the specific charge the boy is facing.
