HAMLIN, Maine — One woman escaped injury after a fire destroyed her home in Hamlin late Sunday evening.

Capt. Andy Gendreau of the Van Buren Fire Department said Monday that the fire at 509 Hamlin Road was reported at 10:04 p.m.

According to Gendreau, the three-story home was in flames by the time they got to the scene.

Dawn Levesque, who owned the home, escaped, but several cats are missing.

Fire departments from Van Buren, Grand Isle, St. Leonard and Grand Falls responded.

Gendreau said that firefighters did not leave the scene until a little after 2 a.m.

The state fire marshal’s office was on the scene Monday to investigate, according to Gendreau.

No one was injured.
