EXETER – Marion J. (Pattee) Allard departed this earth March 29, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility, where she received excellent care and attention since 2006. She was born June 25, 1943, in Hartland, the daughter of Arno and Eleanor (Rollins) Pattee.
Marion lived her early years in Pittsfield, graduated from Maine Central Institute and received secretarial training at Thomas College, Waterville. Marion was a secretary to the dean of men at Colby College before joining the U.S. Civil Service, where she filled positions in the Pentagon, office of Vice President Hubert Humphrey and Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Europe in Wiesbaden, Germany. It was there she met and married Robert, a career Air Force sergeant in June 1970. Marion gave birth to her first of two daughters, Jeannine in Ankara, Turkey, and her second daughter, Katherine at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. After her husband’s military retirement the family resided in Winterport, where Marion was active in civic affairs, school activities and St. Gabriel’s Church. Marion worked at several places in Bangor, including the University of Maine, Bangor campus from which she retired.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Allard of Exeter; two daughters, Jeannine M. Bland and her husband, Timothy, of Ellsworth and Katherine A. Trapela and her husband, Mark, of Bangor; two granddaughters, Lindsay and Abigail Bland of Ellsworth; and a brother, David Pattee and his wife, Lynda, and their son, Andrew Enterline, of West Redding, Conn.
A private graveside service will be held at her family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Westgate Manor Activities Fund, 750 Union St., Bangor, ME
