Thieves steal cash register from Ellsworth restaurant

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Police are investigating a recent break-in at a local restaurant during which thieves didn’t just steal cash, they took the entire register.

The burglary happened at Angelo’s Pizzeria in Ellsworth sometime between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 7:45 a.m. Thursday. Detective Dotty Small with the Ellsworth Police Department said someone forced his way into the restaurant and stole a cash register estimated to be worth $1,000. Several hundred dollars were believed to be inside the register at the time, Small said. Police also gathered physical evidence from the scene.
