BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — Police are searching for a Wiscasset man who failed to appear for sentencing Thursday in connection to a Class B theft in Boothbay Harbor in August 2010.

Boothbay Harbor Patrol Officer Jared Mitkus said Drew Bibber, 20, whose last known address was 37B Ward Brook Road in Wiscasset, is wanted for failure to appear for his sentencing and violation of conditions of release. Mitkus said Bibber initially was charged with burglary and theft for an incident at Enchantments, a boutique retailer in Boothbay Harbor, but was convicted last year of only the theft charge.

Bibber was one of a trio of suspects who stole a large number of items from the boutique and then drove toward the Detroit, Mich., area trying to sell the items along the way. Also convicted of theft in the case was Richard Malady of Freedom, who awaits sentencing.

According to Mitkus, Malady is a former employee of Enchantments.

A female who was driving during the incident also has been convicted of misdemeanor charges.

Bibber did not appear in Wiscasset District Court at 1 p.m. Thursday, said Mitkus. As a result Bibber is the subject of an arrest warrant which stipulates that he can be extradited to Maine from anywhere in the United States. He is known to frequent Bath and Wiscasset as well as the Detroit area.

Mitkus asked anyone with information about Bibber’s whereabouts to call the Police Department at 633-5616 or 633-2451.
