ST. DAVIDS, Pa. — Dave Prager’s run-scoring single after a two-run single by Scott Renauro capped a four-run rally in the ninth inning to give Eastern University a 9-8 baseball victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Wednesday.
Renauro also had a double and knocked in three runs for the 13-6 winners, who erased an 8-3 deficit thanks to 14 walks.
Dillon Schwartzer also had a pair of hits, and Gary Moses pitched four innings of one-hit, shutout relief.
Jake Fillebrown had three hits, including a double, for the 2-14 Owls. Justin Bergeron had two doubles and knocked in three runs, and Carlos Villoria had a pair of singles.
Wisconsin-Whitewater 16, USM 5
At Auburndale, Fla., freshman Marty Herum went 5-for-5, including a triple and two doubles, and he also scored three times as Wisconsin-Whitewater dealt the University of Southern Maine its fourth straight loss.
Sam Keller had four hits for the Warhawks (7-4) and Tim Conroy hit a two-run homer.
Nick Grady homered, doubled and singled for 6-7 USM and drove in three runs. David Ricker tripled twice and Forrest Chadwick had a pair of hits.
USM defeated twice
At Clermont, Fla., Oberlin College and 12th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater handed the University of Southern Maine losses Wednesday in USM’s final two games of its southern trip.
Oberlin defeated the Huskies 4-2 in the first game, and Wisconsin-Whitewater rolled over USM 20-0 in five innings in the second game.
Cheryl Lindsly drove in two runs to pace the Yeo, who jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning and held off the Huskies.
USM’s Annie Mitchell and Katie Davis picked up an RBI each in the bottom of the third to cut Oberlin’s lead to 3-2, but the Huskies couldn’t catch the Yeo (8-7).
In the second game, the Warhawks rapped out 25 hits while their pitcher, Katie Boyle, held the Huskies hitless.
Deven Ducharme pounded a triple and a double with two RBIs for Wisconsin-Whitewater (9-1), and Caitlyn Snyder added two doubles and an RBI.
Caitlyn Leborgne took the loss for USM (0-10).
Colby 20, Husson 0
At Waterville, Katie Griffin scored three goals and Tess Petesch had two goals and three assists to power the Mules past the Eagles on Wednesday.
Michelle Burt and Claire Dickson each had one save for Colby (7-0), and Kaleigh Morneau and Kayla Guerrette combined for four saves for Husson (2-5).
