BDN seeking Katahdin tales

The BDN is working on the next “BDN Maine Outdoors” special publication, and we need the help of our readers.

Much of the content in this summer’s edition will be about Maine’s tallest peak, Mount Katahdin in Baxter State Park. In a quest to depict this historied mountain, we ask people to share their stories with the BDN.

What does the mountain mean to you? Does your family have a Katahdin tradition? Do you have a favorite trail, epic hiking story, or funny camping disaster? Have you volunteered on the mountain? Was it the end of your Appalachian Trail journey?

Jot down your story in 350 words or less and send it by email to asarnacki@bangordailynews.com or by mail to Aislinn Sarnacki, Bangor Daily News, 491 Main St., Bangor 04401. We also encourage you to send a photo or video of your experience.

A handful of these stories will be featured in the June edition of “BDN Maine Outdoors.”
