HANCOCK – Terry Edward Coffin, 64, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Born Jan. 10, 1948, in Ellsworth, son of Donald and Eleanor (Salisbury) Coffin, Terry married his beloved wife, Sheila (Lounder) Coffin, in 1970 and became the son-in-law of George and Mildred (Walker) Lounder.
Terry will be missed and loved by his wife of 42 years, Sheila; daughters, Terrylynn and Julie; sons-in-law, Steve and Kurt; and grandson and sound effects partner, Samuel.
Terry was an Army veteran of Vietnam and spent the past 39 years working at Bangor Hydro Electric Co. A giant teddy bear, Terry had an unselfish willingness and desire to see the good in all and help everyone. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of working on school projects, cheering for the local sports teams, mastering home improvements, stopping by to lend a hand at Hancock Grammar School, playing golf with friends, and making his famous brownies, which brought smiles with each bite.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Union Congregational Church of Hancock, Hancock. A reception will be after at Hancock Grammar School. Terry requested that while remembering him, we also keep in our hearts the memory of his grandson, Alexander Scanio, who died Dec. 25, 2011. Terry was comforted knowing that he would join and be able to care for Alexander. In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial donation to The Phoenix Zoo, 455 North Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, AZ 85008 – the nation’s largest privately funded zoo and one of Terry’s favorite places to visit.
