Camden seats open for candidates

CAMDEN, Maine — Nomination papers became available Monday for people seeking a variety of seats on municipal boards.

Two selectman seats, each for a three-year term, are up for election. The seats are held by John French Jr. and Morgan Laidlaw.

Laidlaw said he would not seek another term to spend more time with his family. A message was left with French.

Two seats on the SAD 28-Five-Town Community School District boards also are available. The seats are held by Bob Lawson and Kelly Briggs. Messages sent to both Lawson and Briggs about their re-election intentions were not returned as of Thursday afternoon.

One seat on the personnel board also is up for election. That seat is held by Steve Melchiskey.

Nomination papers must be returned to the town clerk by April 30. Candidates must collect the signatures of at least 25 registered Camden voters to make it on the ballot.

The election will be held 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the fire station. The town meeting will begin at 7 p.m. June 13 at the Camden Opera House.
