Rockland might smell unpleasant as sewage plant odor scrubber is repaired

By Stephen Betts, BDN Staff

ROCKLAND, Maine — There may be odors coming from the sewage treatment plant periodically over the next 10 days as the odor scrubber system is repaired, according to the city.

Repairs began March 21 and should last about 10 days at the plant located on the downtown waterfront, according to acting City Manager Tom Luttrell.

Cracks in a piping system were discovered several months ago in the scrubbing system and the city has since been assessing how to do the repairs that could cost up to $50,000.
