St. Joseph’s softball team sweeps Lassell


NEWTON, Mass. — Maddie Kluna allowed only three hits in seven inning to lead the St. Joseph’s College Monks by Lasell 3-0 in the first game and the Monks completed the sweep with a 13-3 win in second game in the softball doubleheader.
Theresa Hendrix and Connie Grovo each had RBI singles for St. Joseph’s, now 7-3.
Denise Archetto, Jacqui Saluti and Candace Howard each singled for 0-12 Lasell.
In the second game, the Monks scored six runs in the fourth inning to pull away from the Lasers. Kluna hit a two-run double, Heather Tripp had an RBI double and Maria Labbe had a run-producing single for the Monks in the inning.
Saluti hit an RBI double for the Lasers.

Women’s lacrosse
USM 20, Husson 6
At Gorham, Rosie Forster scored four goals and added an assist to carry the University of Southern Maine by the Eagles.
Shelby Turcotte added three goals for the 3-3 Huskies while Samantha Purcell, Lauren Santo, Jess Gassman, Jenna Cyr and Jacki Kelly each added two. Kim Vogel made five saves.
Amanda Mora and Haley Huntington each scored two goals for 1-4 Husson while Kaleigh Morneau made five saves and Kayla Guerrette had three.
