    Was there a pilot?

I bet the pilot wishes that he had started drinking, smoking, amphetamines, and sniffing glue after that one.

Newspaper people just LOVE the word ‘Reportedly.’ The supposed purveyors of ‘news,’ they seem quite fearful of declaring whether something did or did not happen. Take out the words ‘allegedly’ and ‘reportedly’ from any newspaper and you’d end up with a Post-It note. And they wonder why people have abandoned newspapers.

      You’re reportedly wrong.

I agree with the haphazard use of “reportedly.”

However, at the time the story first ran online, the paper was obligated to attribute the incident to somebody. That’s just basic reporting.

What the reporter should have said was somthing along the lines of “A Cessna plane that took off from Belfast Municipal Airport Thursday night had to make an emergency landing on Maine Route 52, according to Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland.”

Two passengers well no wonder it made a emergency landing there was no pilot.

Wow, was just in that area yesterday! Wonder if any drivers saw this..

  • DonHorchKingofMen

Darn,I was there yesterday afternoon. That would have been a good one to tell ‘mutha’ about!

  • That story doesn’t line up with any other news media report. This plane was upside down with a wing missing. Hardly a landing by any definition. Don’t think it was taking off either but you need to find out and REPORT the facts. Watch WABI-TV5 online if you want details and some video.

“If you can fill out the yellow sheet with Jack Black in your hand

“If you can re-use the airplane, it was a great landing.”

        • I think it hit it’s last telephone pole.

      • The BDN is reporting this as a takin’ off not a landin’. You are correct if it was a landing and they walked away……good enough!
