BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man was arrested Saturday after police say he pushed his girlfriend at the Pine Street apartment they share.

Jeffrey Mayhew, 27, was charged with domestic violence assault, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

Edwards said the couple got into a heated argument, Mayhew pushed the woman, and she subsequently contacted police.

He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail. Mayhew faces up to a year in prison if convicted of the Class D domestic violence charge.

Mayhew has a prior charge of possession of methadone and Xanax on his record, according to Bangor Daily News archives.
