Good luck in FL, you’ll need it. Believe me it’s not all Disneyland.

Good point. I lived in FL 5 years, couldn’t wait to leave.
Althhough income taxes don’t exist, everything else is taxed. Property taxes mean you buy your house from the state every 10 uears. Parking anywhere near the beach is impossible. Between the months of May and October, your outdoor stuff is unbearable after 7am. You see all the old people walking their dogs early in the am because after 8 pavement can burn the dog’s pads, not because they want to get up early. There are lines for everything, and unless you have money, your house is likely to be a trailer. Property insurance rates are sky high, to the point that your premiums are like another house payment if you live within 3 miles of the coast.

Another interesting thing about FL: they have socialized property insurance. Because the rates increased and major insurers left the state, the State of Florida is the largest single property insurer down there. Interesting how they claim to be so Tea Party (see current governor and Marc Rubio, current Senator), but when push came to shove, they decided the free market couldn’t be trusted with property insurance.

For someone who seems to hate the state, why are you even bothering to keep tabs on what’s going on here???? You’ll be back!
