CUSHING, Maine — Residents overwhelmingly agreed Monday to allow malt liquor and wine sales in town.
Residents voted 313 to 55 to allow off-premise sales of liquor on Sundays and 327 to 39 for off-premise sales on the other days of the week.
In the only contested municipal race, incumbent Daniel Staples defeated challenger Randolph Robbins 267 to 88.
Robert Worthing was re-elected without opposition to another three-year term on the Board of Selectmen. Loren Andrews was re-elected without opposition to the Regional School Unit 13 Board.
The annual town meeting will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The proposed municipal budget for 2012 is $589,057, down 8 percent from the $640,252 approved by voters at the 2011 town meeting.
