BANGOR, Maine — A Dover-Foxcroft man is in jail after a motorist tipped police to a potential domestic violence assault, police said Monday.

Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said a woman driving on Harlow Street on Saturday afternoon witnessed a man in the vehicle in front of her hit a woman sitting in the passenger seat.

Dana LeBlanc, 41, of Dover-Foxcroft was arrested and charged with assault after Officer Tim Shaw responded to the call and interviewed the people in both cars.

Edwards said the female in LeBlanc’s vehicle had a small cut on her face.

The charge was elevated to a Class C felony because LeBlanc has a prior conviction for domestic assault. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail. He faces up to five years behind bars if convicted.
