Bangor police arrest man accused of grabbing woman’s prescription drugs

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A 43-year-old man whom Bangor police describe as a transient was arrested Friday on two counts of stealing drugs after he tried to take prescription drugs away from their rightful owner.

David Anthony Williams, 43, came to the attention of Bangor police shortly before 4 p.m. when they were called to Union Street to look into a report of disorderly conduct, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday, citing an arrest report.

When they arrived, officers reportedly saw Williams and a woman pushing and shoving each other. The tussle apparently was over two kinds of medication for which the woman had a prescription. Some of the pills were broken in the fracas, Edwards said.

The pills were returned to the woman they belong to and Williams was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail, Edwards said.

If convicted of the Class C felonies, Williams could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
