Caribou man indicted on federal drug charge

BANGOR, Maine — A Caribou man who was indicted last week by a federal grand jury on a charge of distributing a substance containing methamphetamine is due in court later this week .

Phillip Cote, 31, is scheduled to make an initial appearance Friday in U.S. District Court in Bangor, a court clerk confirmed on Monday.

The charge stems from alleged drug activity that occurred on Oct. 18 of last year, according to documents filed in federal court.

If convicted, Cote could face up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1 million or both.
