WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Navy has committed to sending one of its ships to Camden during the annual Camden Windjammer Festival Aug. 31-Sept. 3, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins announced late Thursday in a press release.
Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, had written to the Navy requesting the visit. The release did not name a specific vessel.
“I am pleased that the Navy has agreed to honor our state with this port visit during the popular Camden Windjammer Festival in Camden Harbor,” Collins said in the release. “This visit will be a wonderful opportunity for all us to honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Navy and welcome them to Maine.”
