Bangor police investigate possible stabbing; one man behind bars

BANGOR, Maine — A man with domestic violence charges on his record was arrested Tuesday night after a report of a stabbing on Essex Street, police said Thursday.

Joshua Parsons, 28, of Bangor was charged with violating conditions of release, according to Sgt. Paul Edwards.

Another man witnessed a fight between Parsons and a woman at an apartment and contacted police, the sergeant said.

Officer Taylor Bagley responded, and when he ran Parsons’ name, he was arrested and charged with violating conditions of release. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Thursday.

Edwards said further charges were possible as police continue to investigate the incident. He said it was unclear whether a stabbing occurred.

“When it was all said and done, there’s more investigation that needs to be done,” Edwards said. “They’ve turned the report over to the criminal investigation division.”

The woman suffered minor injuries but did not require a trip to the hospital, the sergeant said.
