MOUNT DESERT, Maine — A Trenton woman whose car rolled over Wednesday morning on Mount Desert Island may have suffered some broken bones in her hand or arm, according to police.

The woman, Kristen Rodge, 46, was transported by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, according to Mount Desert police Officer Leigh Guildford.

Rodge was driving a 1999 Ford Expedition a few minutes after 5:30 a.m. toward Bar Harbor on Indian Point Road when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, striking some rocks and trees, Guildford said. The vehicle veered back onto the road and rolled, coming to rest on its roof, he said.

“She believes she fell asleep,” the officer said.

Rodge was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was the only person in the vehicle, Guildford said. He said she had pain in her hand and arm, possibly as a result of broken bones. He was not sure which hand or arm was injured.

Bar Harbor Fire Department responded to the accident because it happened near the town line and initially was reported to have happened in Bar Harbor, Guildford said.

The vehicle was demolished in the accident, according to the officer. He said he does not anticipate any charges being filed as a result of the incident.
