FORT KENT, Maine — A 17-year-old who lost control of his vehicle ended up causing significant damage to his own truck and to several new vehicles at a local car dealership early on Sunday morning.

Police Chief Kenneth Michaud said Monday that the accident happened just after 1 a.m. Michaud said Colby Martin was eastbound when he veered out of control on a curve while driving alone on Main Street in his 2005 GMC pickup.

He struck a light pole near Valley Auto, and debris from the top of the pole fell onto several new vehicles in the parking lot of the dealership.

Michaud said there was about $6,000 in damage to the cars and $12,000 damage to the teen’s truck.

There were no injuries.

The chief said no charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
