Warren to consider fate of old school

WARREN, Maine — The town has scheduled a public hearing to get residents’ suggestions on what to do with the former Warren Primary School.

The 9,600-square-foot building was turned over to the town in 2007 after SAD 40 no longer had a use for the brick structure located on School Street. The school district had used the building for several years for administrative offices before giving the property back to the town.

In addition to the building that was constructed in 1963, the property includes 5.5 acres.

Several years ago, voters had given the selectmen the authority to sell the building, but town officials wanted to revisit the sentiment of the public.

The public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the nearby Warren Community School. The town also will accept written comments to the Town of Warren, 167 Western Road, Warren, Maine 04864. Those comments should be received by the town before the March 14 meeting.
