PORTLAND, Maine — The CEO of L.L. Bean has lost his court appeal claiming the deed to his waterfront property in Cumberland inaccurately specified the location of an easement across his land.

In a unanimous ruling Tuesday, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court upheld a lower court decision dismissing Christopher McCormick’s lawsuit against the property’s previous owner.

McCormick filed a complaint in 2010 against Lawrence Crane, claiming the easement as traveled was different from a depiction in an easement plan referenced in the deed. McCormick bought the property in 2001.

McCormick in November lost another legal battle with his neighbors over a wall and fence he built along the easement. In that case, the Supreme Court sided with the neighbors and ordered McCormick to take down the wall and fence within 30 days.
