ALFRED, Maine — Four people who police say are connected with a burglary ring in York County are behind bars, police said Monday.

Arrested were Justin Burleigh, 25, of York; Paul Kastberg, 25, of Alfred; Michael Zaetz, 23, of New Hampshire; and Heather Laroche, 23, also from New Hampshire.

A dozen burglaries have occurred over the last month in the towns of Shapleigh, Newfield, Waterboro and Alfred, with a large number of items, such as TVs, gaming systems, drugs and electronic equipment, being stolen, according to a news release from state police spokesman Stephen McCausland.

“In addition, police have also seized thousands of dollars’ worth of new clothing, sunglasses and sneakers believed taken from outlet stores in Kittery,” the release said.

All of the stolen items have been recovered from a house in Shapleigh, and police also seized 10 grams of heroin, according to the release.

All four suspects were taken to the York County Jail. Burleigh is facing a burglary charge. Laroche was wanted on heroin and cocaine charges in New Hampshire. Kastberg was charged with not paying previous fines, and Zaetz is charged with violating his probation.

The investigation is ongoing.
