WEST PARIS – Gone Home! Our dad, husband, gramp and great-grandfather Alton Lloyd Carlow passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at a Norway, Maine, hospital with his loved ones at his side, hands held and love for all in his heart. He was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Alexander. He was adopted soon after his birth by loving parents Ambrose and Ethel (Potter) Carlow.

Dad lived most of his early life in the Milford area working at Penobscot Chemical Fiber Co. or hauling wood. He later became well known for his carpentry skills, working for a time for Sherman Homes and then built a successful home building business of his own. He also lived in Glenburn and Hermon. He was most happy with a building or rebuilding project going on and with a hammer and nails in his hand. Right to the end he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with anyone who needed his help. His work here is now done. He was also a past member of the Masons and Anah Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Francis and wife, Heidi, Brenda and her husband, Lenny Wescott, and Penny and her husband, Lynn Porter; stepchildren, Diana and her husband, Joseph Duffy, Kathryn Douglas, David Douglas, Steven Douglas and Sandra Douglas Gregory; as well as 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held later in the spring. Rest in peace Dad and know you will forever be in our hearts and minds. We will miss you. Thank you Lord for giving him peace!
