ROCKLAND, Maine — A Rockland man has filed paperwork to represent the community in the Maine House.

Gordon Mank filed papers with the Maine Office of Governmental Ethics and Election Practices to seek the Republican nomination for House District 47 which represents all of Rockland and a section of Owls Head that abuts Rockland.

Mank is the first person to seek the seat being vacated by Democratic Rep. Edward Mazurek of Rockland. Mazurek is prohibited by the state’s term limits law from seeking a fifth consecutive two-year term.

Mazurek is seeking the state Senate District 22 seat held by Republican Christopher Rector of Thomaston.

Mank is a former police officer in Rockland. He and his wife, Samantha, have run the Mid-Coast Hospitality House on Old County Road in Rockport since it opened in 1988.
