BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police on Friday arrested a woman and charged her with murder in the stabbing death of a man at a Court Street apartment on Wednesday night.

Gail Judd, 53, of Bangor was arrested at about 2 p.m. Friday by Bangor police detectives, Sgt. Paul Kenison said in a press release. She will make her initial court appearance on Monday.

The victim was identified as Michael Drouin, 47, of Bangor. He died as the result of a single stab wound to the chest, Kenison said.

Drouin was found dead Wednesday night in an upstairs apartment at 67 Court St.

An autopsy was performed Thursday on Drouin.

Neighbors of Judd, who lived on the top floor of the three-story apartment building, said she told them she had been raped by a man and had stabbed him.

Police were initially called to Court Street to deal with a disorderly person at about 9:35 p.m. Wednesday and while investigating found the man dead on the floor of an upstairs apartment, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.

Three people who live in the seven-unit apartment building told the Bangor Daily News on Thursday that they heard or were involved in a verbal altercation in the hallway with Judd over missing laundry.

One said he saw blood on the woman and another said “she muttered something about blood” when confronted about the missing laundry.

A 25-year-old neighbor said he went out into his hallway Wednesday night when he heard arguing about the missing clothes and Judd told him she had to go because police were after her.

“I asked her why police were after her and she said, ‘I was raped and stabbed a guy,’” said the man, who asked not to be identified.

He said police arrived a short time later and went to the top floor to investigate.

Judd had been arrested previously by Bangor police, according to Bangor Daily News archives.

On Feb. 10, 2011, she threatened to jump out the window if police entered her Union Street apartment, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said at the time. She had been yelling from inside the apartment when police arrived, Edwards said. She was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.

After there was a suspicious fire at the apartment building a short time later, she was arrested early the next morning and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.

Judd was arrested again on Feb. 15, 2011, for violating her bail conditions after she allegedly caused a disturbance at the Rite Aid on Third Street.
