BANGOR, Maine — The Mount Desert Island front line led the top-seeded Trojans to a 55-49 Eastern Maine Class B boys semifinal victory over No. 5 Presque Isle on Wednesday afternoon at the Bangor Auditorium.

Senior forward Jayson Burke scored 18 points, junior forward Ben Walls added 13 and junior center Adam Gray contributed 12 as the Trojans of Bar Harbor remained undefeated (20-0) entering Saturday’s EM final against No. 3 Gardiner, a 57-46 winner over No. 2 Medomak Valley of Waldoboro earlier Wednesday.

The Wildcats (15-6), led by junior forward Tyler Brooks with 21 points, senior guard Wilder York with 13 and senior forward Andrew Kofstad with eight, hung tough with MDI.

The teams traded the lead back and forth starting early in the second quarter through the third and into the fourth.

After PI took a 44-42 lead with 6:40 remaining in the game, the MDI frontcourt went back to work, sparking an 11-1 run that gave it an eight-point edge with 1:19 to go.

It was MDI’s third win of the season against the Wildcats.
