WINTERPORT, Maine — A local woman was arrested Sunday night after she drove off the road in downtown Winterport and struck several parked cars, causing extensive damage, police say.

Laurie A. Uhrin, 41, of Winterport admitted to being on two prescription drugs when she drifted off Main Street in a 1997 Ford pickup truck, according to a police report. The report did not indicate whether the drugs had been prescribed to Uhrin.

She drove into a truck that was parked on the shoulder of the road, causing “disabling” damage, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office report, then continued into the parking lot of Don Dickel Flooring. There, Uhrin hit the front end of a parked van and then struck the trailer hitch of a parked truck. She stopped when her pickup hit the stairs of the building.

Neither Uhrin nor her passenger, David Pinkham, 46, were injured in the crash, which happened at about 8 p.m.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responded. When Uhrin was asked to take a urine test, she emerged from the restroom with a cup of water instead of urine, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton.

She was charged with operating under the influence of drugs and falsifying physical evidence. Uhrin was taken to Waldo County Jail to be booked and remained in police custody Wednesday morning at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Trafton did not have a dollar estimate of the damage caused in the crashes, but he said that it was extensive.
