University singers to make midcoast visits


OWLS HEAD, Maine — The University of Maine Singers will perform twice in the midcoast next month.

The singers are gearing up for their annual spring tour that will include stops in Owls Head, Rockland, Orono, Mount Desert, Bar Harbor, Pittsfield, Ellsworth, Hallowell, Saco and Brunswick as well as Dover, N.H., and Topsfield, Mass.

The University Singers consist of 79 members from all disciplines across campus.

The midcoast performances will include one 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Owls Head Transportation Museum, hosted by Alvin McNeilly from the University of Maine at Orono Class of 1944. The event is free and open to the public.

McNeilly joked that the only admission charge is knowing the words to “The Maine Stein Song.”

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, the University Singers will perform at Oceanside High School East in Rockland for the student body.
